We are thrilled to welcome you as a volunteer to Beyond My Tribe! We are grateful for your willingness to support and contribute to our mission of empowering young people in Kenya to reach their full potential. At Beyond My Tribe, we aim to support young people in Kenya between the ages of 18 and 35 through systematic interventions in various domains such as livelihood generation, education and skill development, financial assistance, counselling and therapy, sports and art, entertainment, and recreation. Our goal is to assist young people in becoming ambassadors of peace, prosperity, and socioeconomic advancement by instilling entrepreneurial mindsets, encouraging constructive cooperation among youth community members, and promoting community-built businesses.

As a volunteer, you will be a crucial part of our efforts to achieve these goals. Your time, effort, and expertise will help us to better serve the young people of Kenya, and we are excited to have you join our team. In order to help you get started and fully understand what it means to be a volunteer at Beyond My Tribe, we have included some important information about our organization and objectives below. Volunteer Obligations

The Volunteers of Beyond My Tribe will have empathy with the purpose and values of the organisation as outlined in its mission, vision and mandate. They will have the abilities and skills which will be of use in the running of the organisation and its ongoing growth and development.

Volunteers are expected to be fully prepared for each meeting and to participate effectively in discussions on our social media platforms and in our group chats.

Volunteers are expected to make every effort to attend each meeting and committee or sub-committee meeting on which they volunteer. Attendance in person is preferred, however, participation by electronic means is permitted.

Volunteers are expected to provide service and follow instructions in accordance with the mission and values of Beyond My Tribe.

Each member has a fiduciary duty and will at all times act honestly, fairly, diligently, and in all respects in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

A volunteer must

  • act honestly
  • exercise reasonable care and skill
  • be diligent
  • be aware of and understand the fiduciary responsibilities of the position
  • avoid conflicts of interest and
  • act in the best interests of the organization as a whole

Specifically, volunteers are required by legislation to ensure they abide by their:

  • duty of care and diligence
  • duty of good faith and proper purpose
  • duty to avoid conflict of interest by not improperly using their position to gain an advantage for themselves or another person
  • the duty to avoid conflicts of interest by not improperly using the information to gain an advantage for themselves or another person.
